Be ready to help when it matters most.

Emergencies can happen anywhere: at home, at work, on a dive boat, or out in public. The Emergency First Response course gives you the skills and confidence to step in and help until professional medical care arrives. You'll train in a relaxed, supportive setting with hands-on practice, so you'll actually remember what to do. No diving experience is needed, so it's a great course for divers, parents, coaches, teachers, and anyone who wants to be prepared.

Primary Care (CPR)
Learn to handle life-threatening emergencies:

  • Scene safety and protecting yourself as a rescuer
  • Adult CPR
  • Using an AED (automated external defibrillator)
  • Controlling serious bleeding
  • Managing shock and suspected spinal injuries
  • Helping a choking victim

Secondary Care (First Aid)
Learn to care for injuries and illnesses that aren't immediately life-threatening, or when help is delayed or far away:

  • Assessing injuries and illnesses
  • Bandaging wounds
  • Splinting dislocations and fractures

Course Structure
Complete the knowledge portion through EFR eLearning at your own pace, or in a classroom session with your YAY Scuba instructor. You'll then practice your skills hands-on with your instructor using training manikins and realistic scenarios.

Once you've purchased the course, we'll call you to schedule your skills session at a time that works for you.

For Divers
EFR Primary and Secondary Care training completed within the past 24 months is a prerequisite for the PADI Rescue Diver course. You can take EFR before or alongside your Rescue Diver training here at YAY Scuba.

Prerequisites
None. The course is open to anyone, with no diving experience required.

Good to Know
It's recommended that you refresh your EFR skills every 24 months to keep them sharp.
