Advanced Course
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
Take your diving to the next level.
Despite the name, you don't need to be an expert to take this course. It's built for newly certified divers who want more experience, so you can start right after earning your Open Water certification. Over five Adventure Dives with your PADI Instructor, you'll build confidence, sharpen your skills, and find out which kinds of diving you love most.
What you'll do
- Deep dive: Learn to plan and dive safely to depths of up to 100 feet, and how depth affects you and your gear.
- Underwater navigation: Get comfortable with your compass and natural navigation so you always know where you are.
- Three Adventure Dives of your choice: Pick from options like night, wreck, drift, boat, peak performance buoyancy, search and recovery, rescue, diver propulsion vehicle, underwater photography, and more.
How it works
Start the knowledge portion on your own schedule with PADI eLearning (about 6–8 hours), then complete your five Adventure Dives with a YAY Scuba instructor over 2–3 days.
Bonus: Each Adventure Dive can count as the first dive of the matching PADI Specialty course, which gives you a head start on your next certification.
Prerequisites
- PADI Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another agency)
- Minimum age 12 (divers ages 12–14 earn the Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification)
