PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver

Stay down longer. Get back in sooner.

Enriched air nitrox has less nitrogen and more oxygen than regular air. Breathing less nitrogen means longer no-decompression limits and shorter surface intervals, especially on repeat dives. It's PADI's most popular specialty, and one of the quickest to complete. You can do the whole course without getting wet.

What you'll learn

• How nitrox works: Why less nitrogen means more bottom time, and how to plan nitrox dives safely.
• Managing oxygen exposure: Understand depth limits for each mix and how to stay within them.
• Analyzing your tank: Use an oxygen analyzer to verify your mix before every dive.
• Setting your dive computer: Program your computer for nitrox and log your fills correctly.

How it works

1. PADI eLearning: Complete the knowledge portion online at your own pace, in about 2–4 hours.
2. Practical session: Meet your YAY Scuba instructor to analyze a tank, complete an enriched air fill log, and set up your dive computer.
3. Optional dives: Add two nitrox dives to put it into practice. You can also pair them with another course or a dive trip.

Great to pair with: Advanced Open Water or an upcoming dive trip. Many dive boats and resorts offer nitrox fills, and certified divers get the most out of them.

• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or a qualifying certification from another agency
• Minimum age 12
